>>5805841>>5805839>>5805837"How the fuck did Scarecrow get out? We should have had an extra detail on him." You say to yourself.
"Fucking Dent." Hawthorne growls. "Probably called off the detail to save the city a few nickels, the cheap bastard." Hawthorne's jaw is set like chiseled stone. He takes the paper from you and holds it close. "That other name there, do you recognize it?"
"Jervis Tetch?"
"It isn't Jarvis?"
"No, it says Jervis."
"What kind of stupid fucking-" Hawthorne throws the paper to the side, the exertion brings a deeper grimace to his face as he holds his arm. "Fuck." He mutters. A few people look over at his outburst, you hold up and hand and pull Hawthorne close.
"Easy, sir."
"It's like we can never make a fucking step in this city without finding out we were going backwards the entire time." He closes his eyes and sighs as he gently touches his arm. "Another fucking maniac got out and I'm going to be laid up." He opens his eyes again, for the first time you see a depth of sadness in his eyes. He stares at the paper crumpled on the floor for a few seconds before turning to you.
"You should get to the station, figure out the details of this. Send me everything, the second I'm off the bench we're going to get busy."
You open your mouth to reply but he shakes his head.
"I'm still your TO, Rookie. As a commanding officer I want you to keep me up to the date with anything you learn."
You close your mouth and hold a stare with Hawthorne before giving in and saying the only right answer.
"Yes, sir."
The traffic getting to GCPD is eerily light. A prison break and a public attack on the mayor has a way of discouraging the public from going out, even Gothamites can only risk so much in the day to day, you get into the officer and see it swarming. But not with familiar uniforms, men in dress shirts and ties, nylon jackets with bright yellow lettering.
A.R.G.U.S.
Looking around you see your desk is completely cleared of all paperwork, your computer, your drawers open and emptied. You search the floor for the Watch Commander and see him in his office with a serious looking man in a suit and Mayor Dent. The Commander notices your entrance and excuses himself, opening the door and bidding you over with a wave. You head over, avoiding ARGUS agents who appear to either not notice you or not care, letting yourself into the office you feel the pressure in the air. Your spine tingles and your breath comes out ragged. Paranoia floods your mind.
"Officer DeLucia, how was Hawthorne?" Reiner asks you
"Dealing, sir. Not too happy about the Arkham news."
As you say that you feel as if static electricity filled the air between you and the man in the suit. He eyes you but remains silent.
"How about the Officer who covered me? Banks." Dent asks you, he seems far more composed and confident now than he did last night.
