>>6137628Suddenly, you remember what you had asked of Ceyla. “Padawan, about what I requested earlier…”
She nods, but hesitates. “…he’s not Force-sensitive, master. I checked three times to make sure.”
Then he must fall within that 10% of Blazing Chain members that aren’t without the use of the Force. And, come to think about it, he had mentioned that all of the Force-sensitive Arcblades had departed back into the Unknown Regions. But you suppose that it isn’t wildly out of the blue for a civilian to lead civilians-
“Yet it was very strange…” interrupts Ceyla, brows furrowing into a perplexed frown. She glances towards the assembled party. “All of us carry the Force within us, even if we can’t use it. I can sense it flowing through you, through all of us – girdling and encircling the inner lights of our soul that glow with varying degrees of brilliance.
“But with Mister Arcblade…” Her lips thin, and you can almost see the steam as she visibly struggles to find the right words. “It’s like looking at candle flickering in a strong draft.”
The room falls silent as your apprentice’s words hang in the air, and a sense of unease ripples through the party. Suzel’s teacup pauses mid-sip, and his gaze lands on Ceyla. “A candle? Not the usual ‘dim lightbulb’ for us, or the bonfire of the Jedi Masters?”
Or the utter void of the alien within the bioship, but that remains unspoken.
Ceyla nods, brow creased. “It’s…difficult to describe, but that’s what it is. All of us have the Living Force pulsating within us, connecting us with the Universal and Cosmic Force. With Pip, scion of the Fleet Blackshakle...he'd stand out in a crowd by virtue of having less Force-sensitivity than a corner street baker."
Trykov scratches his chin, looking contemplative. “Could be trauma. With what he’s had to see, his scars probably run beyond skin deep.”
“Perhaps…”
For all of Pip’s seeming warmth and charm, the idea that his presence feels so tenuous raises a sense of caution. You’d have to get bloodwork to be absolutely certain, but it almost sounds as if his midichlorian count is somehow far below the galactic average. That’s a mundane explanation that addresses the symptoms, but not the cause.
Maybe it’s a trait shared with the non-raider members of the Blazing Chain.
“Master,” interjects Ceyla, pulling you out of your thoughts. “It’s just a strange phenomenon. He’s not using the Force to hide it either. Whatever it is, it doesn’t feel dangerous…just different.”
“We’ll keep that in mind," you reassure her. That's a tidbit of information that's very much worth following up on. “But for now, let’s see what more information we can gather here…”
