>>5661783“Dimitri…” Mercedes looks sadly into her cup. “If only he’d joined us. And Dedue too. Then it would be a real class reunion.”
>“Well, you’re also missing Ashe, no?”“That traitor?” Felix grimaces. “Who cares about him?”
“Ashe…” Ingrid’s face darkens. “To think he’d have sided with Count Rowe after all his talk of knights and chivalry. And to turn tail during the battle of Garreg Mach. He’s no Blue Lion.”
“I don’t wish him any harm.” Mercedes says solemnly. “I hope that he’s been able to escape the fighting and live a peaceful life. If not for his sake, then for the sake of his siblings whom he cared so much for.” Annette nods in agreement.
“Sorry, Blair. I know you two had a thing going on back at the academy, but we’re not exactly too fond of him around these parts.” Sylvain says with an awkward laugh. “Oh, speaking of which! Is there anyone you’re seeing right now? Surely the lovely ‘Witch’ has no shortage of men lining up to try and woo her?”
So, that was how they felt about him? In a way, you understood it. They’d only known Ashe during their time at Garreg Mach, of which they didn’t even share a full year together. And having turned to the Dukedom’s side, it was only natural they’d feel animosity towards him. Still, something about how they referred to him was heartbreaking. You believe Ashe truly felt remorse for his actions, so much so that he was even willing to fight at their side here, albeit in disguise. He still held some sense of affection towards his former classmates. But it was too late. That class has been driven apart. You hear Sylvain’s question, but you fail to muster up the resolve to answer. Sensing your predicament, Corrine steps up.
“No boys for Blair until the war is over.” She says. “That’s our rule. Sorry, Sylvain, but you’ll just have to wait until we win.”
“Ugh, how cruel.” Sylvain groans. “To think such a beauty has been marching off to battle without the affection of another! Well, what about you Corrine? Is there any man that’s caught your eye?”
“Man? Not quite. Women, though, that’s a different story. In fact, there are some within this very tent I’m having trouble keeping me eyes off.”
“Eh…heh…” Ingrid laughs awkwardly.
“It’s getting late.” Mercedes yawns. “Goddess, where did the night go?”
“Mercedes is right. We should retire.” Annette says. “Big day tomorrow, and all.”
“Wait! We can’t leave without a toast!” Sylvain declares. “Blair, you’re the guest here. I’ll leave the honor to you. To what do we toast to?”
