“I think we should only take what we need.” You make your choice.
“You sure? That bag looks kinda expensive.”
“All expensive fashion is stupidly expensive-”
“I meant it looks like it has some special functions!” Coco feels offended at the jab at her hobby. “It’s ugly either way.” She crosses her arms and mutters.
You have no clue what is ugly or not, but taking a closer look, you do see some odd contraptions.
“Either way, we should just leave it. That way we can both carry Isaac and burn less energy.”
“Eh, you are right. Isaac’s gonna have to forgive us for that.”
“If he lives to resent us, I’m sure he’ll find it in his heart to do so.” You both chuckle at your joke and get down to fashioning a harness to comfortably carry Isaac.
Isaac’s backpack left behind but backpack Isaac secured, you both begin your long trek.
“250 kilometers? What is that in miles?” Coco asks, Vale being the only place in Remnant that uses miles.
“Dunno, but it should be around 6 hours of walking if we keep it steady.” You look up at the sun.
“Whatcha doing?”
“Trying to see what time it is.” The sun burns your eyes and you are forced to squint.
“Idiot. Our scrolls.”
“Scro- oh right!” All the recent drama made you forget you even had one. You take out the small device from your pocket and unfurl it. No signal, but it tells the time still.
10:14 am. You recount the events from today.
At around 9 Theodore gave his speech, it took one hour to reach the drop-off and less than ten minutes for everything to go wrong.
More accurately, less than ten seconds.
You keep thinking back to your visions. Could you have done something? I mean, you did stop the Komodo from attacking Coco and Isaac, but whatever it is you did exactly can be boiled down to ‘bluffing’. If you can learn to control your semblance, you may be able to do it again.
“Piqui? You okay?”
“Uh. Oh, yeah.”
“You spaced out for a bit. Another vision?” Coco asks, concerned.
“Not exactly, just thinking about them. I had one right before the Komodo attacked.”
“Really? What did you see?”
“Exactly what happened. The thing jumping out, snatching Isaac and, y’know.” You gestured to your cargo. “But it was super clear, almost like I was seeing it happening, just a second before it did.”
“Future sight then. Very near future sight.” Coco says with a satisfied smile, feeling like she solved a big mystery, before her face drops. “Then that means…” She remembered the Faunus you both left behind.
