"So Reimu, tell me a little about yourself. How and why did you become a priestess? I don't know how it works here, or even in other religions, but you seem to be too young to have gone through school and then ministry like it's done back home.
<span class="mu-i">"Eh? Well, the term 'ministry', I'm not sure what way you're using it. The Miko is a role befitting a young, virgin girl. We are trained early to know how to perform the duties of a priestess. The Hakurei Shrine in specific has a line of succession, and I'm the current Miko of my generation that started with the beginning of Gensokyo. A-And I can assure you, I do in f-fact perform my duties to the best of my ability!"</span>
Something about the way that last part came out seemed really funny. Maybe it had to do with you noticing how lazy she seems over the days you trained with Mima at the shrine. You don't question her of it though, you already gave her a lecture in the way that seemed most appropriate and didn't want to bring on further agitation.
"Wait, you're a virgin?"
<span class="mu-i">"How about another question."</span>
The inner man wanted to chuckle. That tact of you kept it in check.
"Any family? Do you get along with your family? I've used to be distant with mine, but I reconnected with them after my first journey here. Kind of feel bad abandoning then again without even saying goodbye."
<span class="mu-i">"Well, you likely won't have to worry much about that, time in Gensokyo does not translate well to worlds beyond. You could be here for a year, but not actually be gone very long from the real world. However, your aging will not slow down as a result. Anyways, I do have a grandpa and grandma, two grandpas if we go counting Genjii. They live in the Village and mind themselves. It's... been a while since I visited them."</span>
"What about your mother or father? How are they?"
Reimu was raising some soba to her mouth, but stopped midway when you said that. So did you, as she just stared blankly at the soup. Was that a question you shouldn't have brought up...?
<span class="mu-i">"...Ahem..."</span> She breaks the silence; <span class="mu-i">"I pay my respects, is all."</span>
You... you didn't like the implication behind that. Reimu simply went back to eating, and so did you, until you broke to look up again.
"Sorry." You mutter.
<span class="mu-i">"It's fine."</span> She quietly muttered back.
You took a soup spoon and drank from the bowl. You didn't want the feel to turn sour. You decided to change the conversation and keep discussing her life with her.
"What do you typically do for fun in the Shrine? Do you have any hobbies? What kind of things you like?"
<span class="mu-i">"Ah? Well, the Shrine isn't a place I'd say is good for having 'fun' at. I don't like it when any damage befalls it, and in Gensokyo, I have to admit that damages typically come as a result of people having fun or goofing off. Like the Fairies themselves."</span>
