Ben then proceeded to crouch down and crawl across the battlefield like an actual spider! Your eyes tracked him closely as he clambered over to a panicking mercenary and pounced on him.
“Oh shit…!” you muttered. You've never seen him use THAT move.
He moved inhumanely fast, even while crawling. It was giving you flashbacks to that one movie about the girl that crawls out of the tv. The one with the cursed video tape.
The Ring! That was the movie you were thinking of. And the girl’s name was…Samara, right? You thought that was it.
An image of Ben and Samara crawling beside each other flashed through your mind, and you had to suppress a snort. If you started laughing now, it’d throw off your aim.
You took stock of your remaining arrows, and noticed that you were all out of the ones you’d previously identified. You could waste the rest on these guys, but with Ben and Ana both there, you doubted that they’d last much longer. You might as well toss out a few more, just to see what they did.
The next arrow you fired created a smokescreen that seemed to hinder both sides.
“Whoops. Sorry!” you called out.
Smokescreen arrow. Got it.
You were about to reach for another one when you noticed your bandages stretching into the quiver.
“Wha–get out of there!” you hissed.
The bandages pulled out a cluster of identical arrows. All of them seemed to be of the smokescreen variety. The cloth coiled around their shafts, and an inscription had started to appear on each one. All of them said the same thing.
“Smokescreen.”
You blinked at them, and then at your arm.
Did it just…label your arrows for you?
“Thanks.” you said, unsure of whether it could understand you or not.
Your hand gave you a thumbs up, and your breath caught. Was this thing sentient, or was it acting through Khonshu’s will? Either way, it was being helpful, and that was all you could ask for at the moment.
The next arrow you fired seemed to be a weaker version of the first electrified arrow, and the next just stuck itself to someone’s forehead and stayed stuck there.
“That one’s a bit underwhelming.” you admitted.
Feeling a bit fed up with this process of elimination, you grabbed a handful and fired them all at once.
A cloud of pepper spray, an outpouring of needles, and a burst of blinding light and sound erupted all at once. There may have been one or two effects that were lost in there somewhere.
“Pepper spray, needles, flashbang…” you listed, narrowing your eyes at the ones you’d hit. “Sonic arrow? I think?”
Your mummy hand labeled all of them dutifully. There were a LOT of arrows in here!
“It’ll take me forever to burn through these.” you whined.
Ben shook his fist at you and shouted something that you couldn’t quite hear. Your eyes widened as a mercenary emerged from a green portal that opened up right behind him, and you fired a random arrow at the newly arrived target without checking.
