You look up at the sky as you travel, beholding the grand beacon that serves as the city’s core. It’s buzzing with more activity than usual, thanks to your attack. Silhouettes are continuously deployed from its orbit, flying off into the urban sprawl to accomplish whatever mysterious tasks the Tower commands.
As your goggles zoom in on the apex, you spot the blue form of your ultimate foe, staring straight at the beam of light that emerges from the wrecked factory. You can’t make out any intent from it, but its gaze remains transfixed on the blemish.
“Let’s take a few days off. Give it some time to blow over.”
”It won’t pass that fast, you know. But sure, whatever gets me some good sleep!”
The final leg of your journey takes you over the rooftops. Rather unwisely, you make a short detour and stop where you first picked up the Digivice. Phascomon notices the location, and accompanies you in examining it.
Nothing. Such a pivotal location for you both, yet it’s a completely unremarkable plot of land. You can’t even remember which dumpster it was, or which roof he got flung onto. There are no NPCs examining the tracks you left, and when you put your goggles back on, you see a long-cold trail from a deleted Espimon.
”It’s so quiet here.”
“Like nothing happened.”
You stand in silence for several long minutes, taking in the view. It fills you with a sense of melancholy to know that this little life-changing alleyway will hold no meaning to anybody else, ever.
“Maybe it’s better that way.” You mumble.
But you don’t mean it.
