Lucinda has seen them dozens of times, yet every sphincter in her body still clenches in reaction. Magical Girls die in funny ways, sometimes not even leaving gore behind. When caught by a Witch, they've developed the habit of either chewing their Soul Gems off to kill themselves or to overcharge their souls and go down in a blaze of glory- sometimes they don't manage either in time.
This Witch is strong, Lucinda thinks. Strong as her, at least. Confident Magical Girls often end up surprised by weak Witches, and weak Magical Girls often take down monstrous Witches single-handedly. There is a skill gap, that much is true- but it is not as big as the community thinks.
Lucinda hesitates. The entrances to Witch's Labyrinth look very similar to one another, floating magical circles with weird, precise patterns, a symbol in the center, and a floating name engraved under it. This one is no exception to the rule: the symbol resembles a mystical banana.
Again standing one foot from the abyss, Lucinda allows herself one final moment of hesitation. Clenching her teeth, clenching her fists, clenching her eyes.
Will she enter?
