It was quite in the tunnels as the group made their way through. The two warriors were guided through the tunnels by the Dwarfen Scouts. There were a total of four scouts, each of them a veteran in their own right who had traveled into this area before. Perfect they were to the job, so much so that Lucian could not really understand how they got so good at it.
Perhaps it was that Dwarfs simply chose a role to become good at and worked from there. Using their hundreds of years worth of life to become professionals in their occupation. Something told Lucian that changing one’s occupation might be the hardest thing for a Dwarf to so.
Some might even call it dishonorable. So dishonorable that they should become a Slayer.
“Umgi.” Lucian heard the term for human called out by a nearby voice. The Knight looked over in the dimmed fungus light to see Adok looking towards him, “What you said earlier, to the Ancestors…. I did not really think of things like that before.”
“I cannot be the only person blessed by the Gods on this journey.” Lucian said as they ducked through a doorway, “Gazul likely is not looking out for me, even if Morr asked him to. He likely committed what he did because he knew someone of rank equal to the ghosts was here.”
“Possibly.” The Dwarf said as he shook his head, “Just mind keeping it down about me running away from Karak A Karak. That Ancestor would have demanded right then and there that I should take the Slayer’s Oath!”
