The xenos may as well pray to whatever alien gods they hold, little else they can do when roaring death comes for them in a shower of bolt-fire. No retreat nor cover can save them as the explosive rounds mulch each ork struck with a shower of gore across the access bay, all the way to the far end. Indeed it seems that by the time the second ammo box is emptied and the air is thick with smoke, what few orks managed to survive only did so because they were close enough to escape through the hangar or engine doors whence they came. Though this may be nothing new to the guardsmen (having earlier use of the weapon), it nevertheless comes with a relieved cheer that, for the moment at least the tide has turned. Wasting no time, several of them jump the barricade to try and clear or secure the access hub. Several forward troops rush all the way across the large chamber to take aim against any orks who try to enter back into the room now that the firing has stopped.
The few remaining, to hurry about and collect abandoned supplies or dead comrades, and to finish off any surviving orks... if you could call it surviving after being torn apart by a bolt round. Not all of the survivors can move as far ahead, such as the injured and those defending from rear attacks, but you are among the last to push ahead. Not for lack of haste, simply the burdensome weight of the heavy bolter on your stooped body. Having not yet made the pilgrimage to Mars after all, you haven't given the red planet's tithe and exchanged your legs for machine. Would have made this much easier of course, but at least you can carry the weapon with your servo-arm (if not fire at the same time) which is saying something.
<span class="mu-s">"-repeat, we <span class="mu-i">have</span> secured the hangar entrance! I need those squads now if we are to take it!"</span>
You've certainly done your part in helping, and even emboldening the guardsmen as the commander continues barking orders to the vox-caster. Their intended plan for the hanger seems like it may play out the way you'd hoped, however it means they are going a separate way from you. You wouldn't want to undertake your sabotage plot unless there was a secured escape means for others aboard the ship, but without help you're not sure you'll be able to navigate the enginarium when there's Orks about. Perhaps you could convince or request a soldier or two for help, but then supposing you reach your destination... how will they respond to your sabotage effort?
>Leave the heavy bolter here, you'll do better unencumbered. Plus the guardsmen can use it to keep the access hub secure.
>Continue on your own, and hope you have ample opportunity in advance of any orks to be able to set up and fire. That is, pray you don't get surprised or snuck up on.
>Request assistance from the guardsmen. If it comes to your unfortunate duty, you'll just have to cross that bridge when you get there.
