Louise folded her arms over her chest and breathed a long sigh. <span class="mu-r">“It is actually a common trick for modern vampires to use. They have had hundreds of years to think of ways to circumvent their weaknesses. The stronger the vampire, the more difficult it becomes to resist their temptations.”</span>
While the two of them chatted, you pulled out your phone and signaled for them to give you a moment alone. You quickly dialed Morbius’ number on your burner and waited for him to pick up, but to your surprise, no one answered. After two or three more tries, you eventually gave up and decided to leave a message.
You’d been hoping that he could provide you with some context on the whole “Nightguard” and “Midnight Mission” thing. Could something have happened to him? It might be worth paying him a visit sometime later.
On your way back, you spotted one of the swords that Snowsnake dropped during your fight. It must’ve flown all the way out here when you hit her with Vic’s couch. From there, you managed to locate Snowsnake’s body once more. Anastasia must’ve dragged it out of the middle of the road. You easily ripped the remaining sword from her cold dead hands and webbed both of them to your back. You’d have to figure out what to do with them later.
When you returned to the group, both sets of eyes fell on you, and then your swords. Annie in particular looked very impressed by their beauty. Even she could tell that they’d fetch a large price on the Black Market.
<span class="mu-g">“Huntsman,”</span> Anastasia began. <span class="mu-g">“I think this woman knows the ‘White One’.”</span> she said, pointing a thumb at Louise.
You looked at her sharply. <span class="mu-r">“The other hunter?”</span>
Both nodded.
<span class="mu-r">“I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but Monsieur Knight sent me. He expressed a great interest in meeting that demoiselle over there.”</span> she said, pointing back at the house. Was she talking about Cindy?
Once more, Louise pulled out a folded slip of paper and offered it to you. <span class="mu-r">“I have been tasked with bringing you back to the Midnight Mission, so that we might come up with a way to drive Baroness Blood’s forces out of this city.”</span> Louise explained. <span class="mu-r">“He only asked to see the girl, but from what I’ve seen, I believe that you would be of some use to us as well.”</span>
