>>5343353Where’s your base of operations?” You give Jezebel her next question.
“Which one?”
“Your main base of operations…” Valjean presses.
“Why? It’s in the sewers, where else?” When she says those words, you feel a mixture of fear and relief because, just a couple of nights ago, you were about to send all the captives down into those exact, same sewers. And, while your city’s sewers are large, who knows if this group would have somehow happened across the captives.
Had it not been for Matt’s own suggestion, you would’ve put each and every last mutant in your care in danger. You dodged a bullet, that’s for sure!
“You could’ve said anywhere else but the sewers and made my day, miss emo-barbie.” Valjean crosses his arms.
“What?” You tilt your head, wondering what he finds wrong with the sewers.
“Unlike you, I am a normal person. I don’t like stepping where over four million people’s crap has potentially floated.” Valjean explains, as if it were plainly obvious.
“Właśnie,” Boleski agrees very seriously.
“Let’s not waste our time here– the sewers suck, end of story.” Valjean is deadset on winning his argument. “Now, where exactly in the sewers is your base?”
Oddly, Jezebel doesn’t answer right away until, finally, she says, “I don’t know.”
This only serves to further aggravate Valjean. “How can you not know?”
“Ramulus usually guides the members because not everyone can see in the dark.” The goth easily returns. The wolf man, you recall– the very one that ran away with that clownish girl atop his back.
At that Valjean clenches his teeth, clearly having expected an exact location, but at least you have a lead.
Pacing around what’s left of the floor, you can’t help but feel something’s off about Jezebel being in charge of this whole thing. While she’s clearly the leader of her own little group of thugs, she honestly doesn’t give you the impression of someone who’s seriously in charge or wants to be in charge for that matter.
Something’s not adding up here…
