>>5296734>7You and Calia had left the house of Mr. Trand. Walking through the street you watched the people who passed you and you saw how many of them looked like or talked like the people in Dawnholme. They were Alteracis, they were your people. One day you would rule them, but it yet wasn’t that day.
Calia had taken your hand as two of you walked away from the Alteraci quarters. She hadn’t said anything as you were lost in your thoughts about all this, but she must have noticed how tense you were and how holding her hand seemed to alleviate it.
You breathed deeply as you knew that you would have time to think about all this and now you were with Calia. Think about the present.
“You said you would show me the city.” You said to Calia.
“Yeah I did.” Calia said back and smiled. Seeing her happy made you happy too and it made you feel good. “Let’s go to eat, I am starving.”
“Let’s do that.” You said back to her, you were quite hungry too.
But two of you didn’t get that far outside the Alteraci quarters when you saw two men standing in front of you. The older of the two men was a broad shouldered man with not that gentle face that had numerous small and big scars criss-crossing across his face. You could see that under his leather jerkin he was wearing a mail shirt with the rest of his clothing hidden under a brown cloak. The younger of the two men had similar clothing as the older man, but instead covered his head with a leather cap and you didn’t see a mail shirt. This time both of them had orange bandanas around their throats.
You immediately pulled Calia behind you and moved your right hand on the hilt of the Cinder Sword, ready to unsheath it.
“Alric, what…” Calia started to say before she stopped as she saw how the two men prepared to draw their own swords similarly to you.
“Hello Princeling.” Ieastyn said to you with his deep voice. The other man who you remembered to be named Marcus seemed very nervous. “Send your lady friend away and then may we talk?”
You had met Ieastyn and Marcus in Tarren Mill nearly a year ago. Back then you hadn’t yet learned about the Syndicate, but now you knew more. These two men were part of the Syndicate and how they had spoken to you previously, it was clear that they were rogues and killers. But you weren’t sure if they recognized Calia, or was that just a ploy to get her away from you or just to get you to be alone so that no one else could hear what they have to say? You didn’t know, but you knew that she was in danger if something was to happen.
