A large trickle of blood runs down her chin. Gripping Luin wordlessly, she readies herself to fight.
“Another one just teleported down.” Corrine mutters.
Corrine was right. The same masked figure you saw standing by Bennett’s side has teleported onto the bridge. She stands farther in the back; near the discarded blasting powder your subordinates had dropped. Despite her face being obscured, you knew instinctively that this was Mercedes. There was no mistaking her. Something glittered across her neck. The Rafail Gem. Another Hero’s Relic.
The situation had grown dire. You knew that Corpse Warriors were clumsy fighters. They seemed to retain only a portion of the skill they’d had in life. But these were still three Heroes Relics you were facing. Weapons capable of felling scores of men single-handedly. And even in their weakened state, Annette and Felix still managed to kill eight of your soldiers in a manner of seconds. The two suddenly break out into a run. You find yourself gulping nervously. This was going to be ugly.
