>>6204359[Clocktower Overlook, ????, Laurentel Region, Morning]
You emerge with squinting eyes adjusting to the harsh natural light. No longer under the effects of that strange fog, you can see now the surroundings of the clocktower.
The city is immense, especially at your smaller stature, and it is beautiful.
Split down the middle by a river more akin to a sea, the first thing you notice is how the sun bounces off of the water to emanate golden light across the harbors, the rooftops, and the streets and canals inbetween. You can make out ferries cutting through the river to get directly across, but the city also curves to surround the sea as it narrows toward the mainland.
If the sun in this world follows the same rules that you recall, then you're somewhere in the northeast side of the city.
To the east, some scattered isles, lighthouses dotting their surfaces, and vast ocean.
To the west, plains becoming hills becoming mountains far in the distance.
This isn't even the highest point in the city. There are a few towers you can see that are much much taller. One of them is adorned with massive black and yellow banners, the same colors Rafael is sporting.
What looks to be a large palace sits on the other side of the river, southwest from this clocktower.
Your mouth opens, and you catch the words before you can say them, validating the question before making it known.
"How did pokemon build a city like this?" You ask, looking to see Rafael preening his hair (which you'd forgotten once again is not a hat) from the outside winds.
"Selcross? Not in a day, that's for certain. Though, I never really pay attention in those history lectures…"
Ascending the last few steps, you stop again when you catch sight of a purple figure standing toward the opposite railing of the roof. It turns, and for a split second its gemstone-like eyes reflect the sun, flashing with malice, the pokemon brandishes their own claws, there's a bag of what look to be even more gemstones tied around their neck. Just as you're certain you're about to be in another battle, they relax.
