It was a tense situation, for sure. Your information was limited, on account of your informant being killed before he could tell you anything more. Considering how there weren’t many ways to travel down to the basement without alerting any guards, you’d be hard-pressed to sneak up on them. But unbeknownst to them, you had a secret weapon on your team.
When you suggested this plan, everyone nodded their approval. Everyone except Flint, of course. Unlike his companions, he was grinning like a madman.

As the service elevator reached the bottom floor, you and the others weren’t surprised in the slightest when you found multiple guns pointed in your direction. You, Felicia, Prowler and Glass raised your hands, but didn’t show any fear in the face of such overwhelming opposition. Whoever this gang was, they’d managed to momentarily overwhelm the maggia by taking advantage of the abilities of their premier metas.
You calmly exited the elevator and allowed these masked punks to lead you to where Halfstep was. And in typical evil goon fashion, they did exactly that. By the time that they stopped you, you and your crew were standing several meters away from a rather short looking man wearing a zipped up fleece hoodie, stretchy pants, and a non-descript mask. He was holding a blade in one hand and a gun in the other. Silvermane was lying on his knees in front of him, with the aforementioned blade at his throat. Saya was next to him, struggling to look tough with the barrel of a gun pressed firmly to her head.
You didn’t see Foxhole anywhere. Or at least, you didn’t see anyone that matched her description. She must be hiding around here somewhere.
After a brief glance around the room, you returned your gaze to Halfstep. You had no doubt that he was scrutinizing you as well. But more importantly, there was no way that he hadn’t noticed Slip’s absence.
“I’m not in the mood to play games.” he said, sounding bored as he pressed the blade against your employer’s throat. He winced as the cold steel bit into his flesh, drawing a fresh trickle of blood. Saya seemed to whimper at that. It was faint, but all of you heard it. Halfstep didn’t even flinch.
“Where’s the target?” he asked, not taking his eyes off of you.
“Would you believe me if I said that he got away?” you said with a shrug.
“No.” Halfstep said, not a hint of humor in his tone. “My sources tell me that you entered maggia territory with him in tow. Where did you hide him?”
“I told him to hang back. Didn’t think it was worth risking his life for something this small.” you said easily, gesturing at Silvermane. The maggia don bared his teeth at that. You just hoped that he would buy your bluff. You'd probably have to apologize to Silvio after this.
