I.. actually misremembered this one. Now that I got to look at the lyrics again, it was never an eulogy. Rather, it was an declaration of love towards the very product that doomed Wichien Watcharin and everyone associated with him - opium. That makes a lot more sense now. He liked it. He was good at it. He was alive. That’s why the tone is cheerful despite the story concluding with his death.
