Not wanting to spook his son into submission TalOS decided it was time to slip into the common tongue of humanity, “Warriors you say? Then such tasks would be below that of a Warrior such as yourself and left to the Serfs and Menials?”
The Astartes thought about it for a moment as TalOS noticed his numerous muscles becoming stressed about his face, “I… believe that to be so.”
Those words TalOS found to be intriguing. Not only did he admit that the Astartes acted as a Caste within the Imperium but that they had an innate sense of superiority. That is, unless the Sargent did not catch the meaning of TalOS’s words.
A confirmation was needed, “So if I asked this task of another Legion I would face push back?”
He received a nod from the Astartes as his unsure face started to grow certain, “Father I can seldom see few of my cousins agreeing to do such a task let alone doing it. It would be easier to say those who would, such as the Imperial Fists or the Tenth. Some would be suprised like me, but will do so while hating upon your name. Others will refuse.”
“Refusal in the sense of a superior officer or to a Primarch?” TalOS asked, knowing that the Astartes had a sense of distinction between the two breeds of mankind.
“Primarch, my Father. The Luna Wolves are too proud to lay themselves that low while the Wolves would laugh at you asking if you can just fire them inside the torpedoes.” The Astartes named off the first two unified Legions without knowing he had, “The Third have found their preference at the heads of armies I have heard while the Thirteenth would never accept such a bloodless doctrine. The First, some may commit but many will ignore the order for their own disciplines.”
Variety in reasons but they were all the same. TalOS could only feel himself gain a modicum of interest as he heard them all. Though he was no fool in hearing what underlined almost all of these, that they were from a sense of pride.
For a moment TalOS felt a pang of worry. That so many names could be rolled off when it should have been the other way around. And for the simple fact that they were ‘Warriors’ did not sit well. Doubly so when two of the five had their Primarchs.
What would happen when the rest of his brothers are found?
