>>6152603You suddenly remember the Light Runes that you bought back in Solis. You had been itching to test them out for a while, and now seemed like the opportune moment. You were never one for hoarding items. The act of stockpiling items for “later use” was what you considered to be one of the most fatal personality flaws an adventurer could possess. Fortunately, if there was one thing you knew, it was to use whatever you had on hand to survive another day. Pulling a Light Rune from your satchel, you held the item out towards the Terror. You were unsure how the damn thing actually worked, but it thankfully proves simple enough.
The rune disappears from your hands, only for an enlarged version to appear underneath the Terror. Just as it was flapping its wings and taking flight, it was suddenly pulled back to the ground, as if yanked by a giant invisible hand. It lets out a confused and loud screech, flailing left and right to escape the grasp of the rune, but with no success. You grin happily as you watch the creature’s struggles.
>“Hah! Doesn’t feel so good when you’re the one caught, does it?”>Light Rune: 2/3Behind you, Nadia is speaking in an unfamiliar arcane language. She glows a bright white, and the magic that she calls forth is so potent and thick that you can see it practically forming around her in an aura of sorts. She lets loose the same attack you saw her use earlier, so fast you can barely see it. This time it travels forth in a straight line, and does not miss its target. In an instant, the top half of the Terror is blown apart in gory chunks, spraying you and the rest of the party in its blood. It stands there, limbs still twitching and filled with energy, before collapsing to the ground with a heap.
You turn towards Nadia, ecstatic by what you just saw. You’d certainly managed to acquire for yourself capable allies.
“That wasn’t so tough.” You boast. “I expected something more-”
The ground beneath you explodes, and the hall threatens to cave in. Something big has burst through the ground with a roar, and placed itself between you and the rest of the party. You hear several of your allies knocked back by the sudden appearance of what looks to be a giant worm. Evidently, there was more than one Terror lurking within the walls of the Keep.
The creature opens its disgusting mouth, and you several rows of razor fang teeth, covered in viscous saliva that drips to the floor. In one sudden motion, it lunges towards you, mouth agape, and attempts to devour you in one singular bite.
