>Admin and F to Bond with Sunset. F is only there as backup if shit goes down. Time to tell a story.
You can't deny that you always feel a little bit weird interacting with an anomaly directly. Especially since the shadow isn't in the cell.
You shouldn't be here. But you take in a deep breath and step forwards towards the obelisk. You clean your throat while pulling out the old papers you found a while ago.
"Sunset at the Pyramids. I'll use that as your name. I have a story to tell you. A story of a queen and her empire."
The lotuses start squirming and thrashing as your voice reaches them. Something begins to surround you. The air has changed like you're no longer in a containment cell.
[HOPELESS WRECK] DESERT WINDS ARE SWIRLING AROUND YOU. BE CAREFUL ON WHAT YOU DO.
"There was once a queen who ruled an empire. She was a cruel hag who cared only for her own benefit, not for what the fac- common folk wished."
You wait to see if that got any bad reactions. The shadow hasn't returned but otherwise, it seems safe. You continue.
"Death was commonplace. Both humans and the mystical creatures they feared dropped like flies. Rot and decay set into every inch of her realm until barely anything remained. Even other empires failed to work with her."
"Eventually, she disappeared. Where to, no one knew. The kingdom fell apart shortly after and only through the hard work of a common worker was the kingdom somewhat restored."
"And now, he seeks a way to cleanse her influence from what remains of his kingdom now. A pauper king, hopeless in his endeavors but is bound by a duty to brighten the kingdom's light."
You drop the pieces of paper onto the obelisk standing before you. Chunks of the paper gets absorbed into the oddly wet stone.
[BOUND BY DUTY] Remnants of a duty that was not fulfilled. It has no place in your world.
You stand there, waiting to see what reaction that gets out of the anomaly. A flurry of indistinct, illusionary voices surround you.
A pauper king? How unique. Most pharaohs are quite luxurious, are they not?
It is not his place to rebirth the kingdom. Let it be consumed by the time the sun rises.
He said nothing of the lotuses growing. Perhaps there is still time for his kingdom to remain.
Men, women, old and young alike. The lotuses slowly stop squirming as the voices quiet down.
[DYING LIGHT] Laughter and something frothy being poured can just barely be heard. Friends bonding over a story.
Whoever wrote that story, I wish they could continue. There's so much left untold!
I think the queen probably has to represent...
You swear the room got darker for a split second. You don't see the shadow returning but the weird feeling subsides. It feels...'safe', for now.
[HOPELESS WRECK] THIS IS THE BEST YOU'RE GETTING. LEAVE.
You turn around, letting the anomaly be. You nod towards Felix. He leaves as you head back to your office.
