“Right, don’t worry about it.” You promise to Mr. Rahul. Speaking of age, you realize something looking at the cards, passports, and others. “Hey, Crossbill, Mage, come over here, I need to make sure of something.” You ask the team to come up to the stage.
“What is it?” Crossbill jumps at the chance immediately.
“Need us for something?” Agent Mage comes along.
“Leave. You’re forbidden from assisting him with the questions.” Quye will be happy for you to disobey so he can tase you all.
“It’s not about that, I want to make sure I’m not imagining things.” You clarify.
“Didn’t you say it’s at the bird’s discretion, baldy? Leave us be, shuush.” Crossbill wants him to stop being a nuisance.
“…” Quye turns his eyes to the Birdy Bird, who in turn flies to your side of the stage. It’s going to make sure you’re not doing anything illegal.
“What are we looking at?” Mark wonders. You point at the board with the information updated for a certain prisoner. “Oooh~ I see it!”
“It checks out, right?” You wonder.
“It does!” Mage checks his clock. Crossbill is mildly confused, but she trusts you two in whatever you’re doing.
You clear your throat. “Everyone! Before we continue, I just found out that today is a special day for a certain lady among us.” You point at Beth in the crowd! “Ms. Beth, please, come over to the stage!”
“Hm, me? How come?” Beth is forced to follow procedure, you help her onto the stage.
“What now?” Quye knows this is nonsense.
“Today is Beth’s birthday!” You cheerfully say.
“Happy birthday!!!” Agent Mage throws confetti out of his pockets!
“That’s what you meant!” Crossbill nods to herself. “Bastards don’t have any calendars hanging around… Bet no one locked in here knows what day it is.”
“You’re joking? Is this what this is about...?” Beth is deeply confused.
“I don’t accept jokes in my territory. Stop wasting my goddamn time.” Quye wants to strangle you.
“R-Right. Why bother?” Beth chuckles at this stupidity.
“I’m not! I want everyone to sing to her together!” You turn to the crowd. “Everyone! Let’s sing Happy Birthday to our friend Beth!”
“And 1, and a 2, and a 1, 2, 3!” Crossbill leads the way as the master of ceremonies.
And so, all the people present started singing Happy Birthday together with all their hearts! The notable exception is Quye, the most cynical of them all are not putting their hearts into it at worst. Though, several people here are really getting into it, isolation truly makes these bonding moments more memorable. And the most touched about all this is the birthday girl herself, whose tears run down her face. The unity within this group is off the charts, you truly turned this crowd around!
