But having watched Zerkalo / Mirror (1975) I also wonder if the Japanese Ring horror film also took some inspiration from Tarkovsky's dreamlike girl/mother hair-washing scene, the resemblance is uncanny. It may just be a coincidence of symbols etc this is a fairly universal one but I know Tarkovsky films have been studied and emulated again and again for their imagery
