”…They’re here, yes. Are you sure we want to deploy these? We’ve been told to capture their headquarters complement. If this hits that, there won’t be much left to take.”
“They won’t lead with it. Besides, we don’t have much else in the way of weapons to stop them effectively if they bear down on us in full. We might as well see how these do against their tanks.”
“As long as they’re careless, which I don’t think they’ll be. Let’s make sure there’s a good distance between us and these when they go off.”
“Better get them started. I think I hear them coming. Must be their forward elements.”
“Damn. Of all the ones to face, I hear their recon are the worst. At least their tankers aren’t much to speak of.”
“That’s not what I was told of this bunch. They’ve managed to grab up the best of what the southlands can offer somehow, and their infantrymen were the ones that assaulted Kobberhus and knocked the line off balance.”
“Sounds like we ought to not be in their way.”
“Maybe not us. The 14th Division seems eager. I heard they got sent to do this specifically. Don’t know how much they know, seems to me it’s just that they’re coming. Or rather, that it’s them here.”
“Either way, I’ll be glad to be rid of them. These damn wagons, too.”

“Alright, commanders,” Yule announced over the radio, “No more radio silence, we’re not going to be able to hide anything if we want to smash through this. Listen up. What our interceptions have managed to piece together is that the Twaryians in our way are of the 14th Infantry Division. It’s a mixed unit consisting of both their motorized infantry and light foot infantry, along with supporting equipment. They’re not to be underestimated- we might have much heavier support and equipment, but they’re trained fighters, and since we haven’t taken heavy fire yet, I’ll bet my britches they’re waiting to spring something on us. That might mean we get the first shot yet, though. Engage at will.”
Yule sat back and stared into the darkness from the top of his armored command vehicle, a modified PzA-13 that had little in the way of weapons, and was primarily an observation and communications vehicle. One of the rewards for service granted before this new Twaryian offensive, like some members of the battalion had managed to gain. A few more platoons had joined up during the restful days- others had been absorbed into the battalion during the dash south, from frontline units that had broken and were in retreat.
