And yet, for all your hostage attempts to ask, any and every last one of her questions remain ignored, mainly because you and Julia can’t afford to do anything but run like a pair of jackals.
“Where’s Room 101?” You ask curtly, shooting Ursula the most threatening look you can muster.
From within your hold, she shifts around to crane her neck upwards, taking stock of your surroundings. When something akin to recognition crosses her face, she exclaims, “Take a right after… after you pass that room…”
You’re not sure which room she means, so you just swerve when you think the moment’s right, eliciting a dirty look from your hostage when you end up in some random lab.
“Typical predator mutant…” She mutters deprecatingly. “And I meant next right, you feebleminded excuse for a chordate!”
Doubling back, you find that the next right leads you to a staircase, and you wonder why Ursula couldn't say ‘Go to the staircase?’ Is there any particular reason that scientists seem to get off on making things as difficult as possible for normal, everyday people?
A couple more bullets embedding themselves into the wall next to you reminds you that you don’t have much time to think about that, but you have another question for Ursula, namely: “What’s in Room 101?”
“Hmmhmmhmm… and you won’t answer my questions about Number One here, but I’ll bite, seeing you likely won't live long enough to tell the tale…” She grins another one of her mad, yet condescending grins.
“Don’t be so full of yourself,” You retort, climbing the stairway in a couple of bounds. “Blink and I got out of here the first time.”
“Top floor, Kelpie.” Ursula tells you before shifting gears back to your topic prior. “I suppose you did, but from a mathematical standpoint your odds were better back then. And I personally think it’d be a waste of time going through all the details when you wouldn’t even be able to wrap your head around them…”
Ire rises within your gut, hot and burning in the aftermath of her comment. Not wanting this bitch to have the satisfaction of getting under your skin so easily, you feel fortunate that the majority of your face is covered. “Just tell me… tell me what’s in Room 101…” You manage to grit out.
“To put it simply, I guess you could say it’s the worst thing in the world… what that ‘worst thing’ is varies from mutant-to-mutant.” You don’t have to look down to see the too-wide grin spread across Ursula’s face.
