>>6147561Cuthbert and Alvin’s men manage to deal with the other two assassins with minimal effort. Judging the rest of the hallway to be safe, you move ahead to where you heard the faint sound of a muffled woman. You find an ornate black door. Arcane scrawlings that you are unable to decipher cover the surface. Looking down, you find what looks to be a girl sitting on the floor. She’s been tied up with rope, and her mouth has been gagged to prevent speaking. She looks up at you with wide, inquisitive eyes. Judging by the terribly nauseous feeling you had, you knew instinctively that this ordinarily looking girl must be the Magic Seal. You rip the gag out of her mouth.
“Hello!” She says cheerfully, showing you a wide grin. She appears to be taking her current predicament in stride.
>“Are you the Magic Seal?”“Yep! That’s me!”
>You look back towards Nadia, who merely nods in affirmation, before turning back to the Seal. You begin undoing her binds. “Are you okay? Did these men hurt you?”“Nope! I’m doing great! It’s nice to be out of my room for a change. Even if it is just right outside it! Say, can you tell me what’s going on?”
>“Well…you were kidnapped by these men. They’ve been using you to shut off the magic for the mages that live here.”“I was?” The Magic Seal says, her brow furrowing. “That doesn’t sound good.”
>“Do you have a name?”“Magic Seal #99.” The girl says proudly.
>“What?”“That’s my name!”
This girl was strange, though you supposed that was only natural. Anyone with a freakish ability likes hers probably would be. She was certainly sweet and charming, but as a mage, you could instinctively tell she was anathema to you in the same way that assassin was to Adeline. You would never be able to call upon your sorcery in her proximity. It felt as if you never even knew magic to begin with. Just how did she come across these strange powers?
>“Listen, squirt. I’m gonna need you to go back in that room of yours. If we want to save what’s left of this place, we’ve got to turn your powers off for a bit.”“No way.” The girl shakes her head. “It’s boring there. I’ve been cooped up in that room forever. I want to walk around!”
>“I wasn’t really asking…”The Seal crosses her arms in protest.
