Quoted By:
Before you did anything else, you ran over to the laundry basket where your mother had disposed of the bloody bandages that had once been a gift from Khonshu, and bundled them up in your arms, along with the sword.
She offered no criticisms for you clinging to your beliefs, but she didn't offer any words of encouragement, either.
You turned to face her, searching for something to say before you were whisked away by this strange magic.
“What should I do if I want to see you again? I can't exactly get myself kidnapped every time I want to spend time with my mom.” you said, giving her a weak smile. “People will start to talk.”
She gave you a thin-lipped smile in return.
“Ask Director Hill to put you in contact with CRADLE. We'll introduce you as an independent contractor that's here to ensure our operation runs smoothly.” she advised. “I would recommend wearing a different costume if you can help it.”
“I think I should be able to work something out.” you said, thinking about the designs you had in mind for your vibranium suit.
Your mother nodded, and almost reached out to touch you, but she thought better of it when the light's intensity grew.
“Be careful. I love you.”
You opened your mouth to reply, but by then the light had fully enveloped your vision, and you felt your entire world shift.
It was like having your body shoved through a mail delivery tube! Your hands and feet struck something cold and solid several moments later. It seemed to be a kind of metamorphic rock, but you weren’t enough of an expert to say exactly what kind.
You coughed a couple of times from the smoke that was rising up from where you'd just landed, and you waved your hand back and forth to clear the air.
In your other arm, you still held the sword and bandages, the latter of which was beginning to coil around and creep up the respective arm. You might’ve cringed from the sensation if you weren't certain about its intention to protect you. Despite what your mother said, your faith in Khonshu wasn't so easily compromised.
When the smoke finally did clear, you were met with a strange sight. An elderly Japanese man with a long gray beard, orange and blue robes was staring down at you from a throne with a look of mild surprise.
And surrounding the throne room were five giant monsters, one of them being the energy-based creature that had fought alongside you not too long ago.
Two seemed to be giant robots of some sort, one looking like they'd jumped straight out of that Pacific Rim movie, and the other looking like a female Transformer of some kind.
On the opposite end of the room, there was a giant green insect creature with purple wings, and next to him stood a green dragon man that almost looked like the great and powerful "Fing Fang Foom". That alone was enough to put you on edge.
“Whoa…”
You staggered backwards, nearly missing a step as you stumbled into something.
