She’s holding her child in her arms, but that doesn’t stop her from yelling and pointing an accusing finger at you. “For Anu’s sake! Move your butts and KILL IT! It’s right there!”
Murdock tries to calm her down. “Be quiet, woman. The monster is gone. This right here is just our resident gnoll… who’s got some explaining to do, regardless.”
“But- but Father, he appeared right next to mister Sharpaxe when you exorcized him!” she protests. “How do you explain that? How?!”
The priest scowls at her. “Am I hearing right? Are you putting the judgement of a PRIEST into question?!”
“Wha…?" The midget lady is taken aback. "No! No, no, of course not! I-it’s just… well…”
The dwarf crowd has gone silent, their initial surprise and shock turning into doubt and uncertainty - judging from the look on their faces. Daitza notices the tension building up, even without understanding the conversation between Murdock and the mother. “What are they talking about? C’mon, Hyeny, translate for me...”
“That dumb humielet claims I’m the demon that took over Kholgarsh” you whisper in her ears, pointing at the silly female dwarf. Naturally, Datz is really upset to hear this. “What?! That’s ridiculous! You saved her kid's life!”
“Yeah... she probably doesn't know that. Better clear that up.” You look at the deranged mother and the kid on her arms, force a smile and address her in Dwarvish. “Ahem! Ewm… excuse me, miss, but I’d wike to know if youw chiwd is doing oka-”
“Don’t you DARE lay your demonic eye upon my son!” the paranoid dwarf yells back, frowning and hiding her toddler away from your sight. “Anu watches over us! Try anything against him and you’ll regret it!”
“Are you deaf?!” Murdock shouts at her in a sudden fit of anger. “I already told ye this gnoll is not the demon ye think he is!”
Many dwarves witnessed what happened. You wonder why they aren’t saying anything in your defense…
