> Fortify some other location? Joe’s Cave?
Mel looked around her campsite and considered the fight ahead. Her camp wasn’t the worst location in the world for being on the defensive, but the birds would definitely have the advantage of plenty of open air. She didn’t really fancy her chances of hitting a bird with a thrown rock or dealing with a flock of dive bombing menaces coming from all angles. Taking the fight to Joe’s cave though…the bull would be more than a little menacing, but at least it wouldn’t destroy her camp.
She gathered her potions and hatchet and set out as the sun drifted lower and lower. She had to work fast, but there was definitely time to set up some defenses. She gathered up any sizable branches she could find, and any decent vines and creepers she could hack off quickly. Now to do something with them. She had two basic ideas, lurk in the back of the cave system and let her enemies wear themselves down with traps and barricades, before engaging with them directly, or actively use barricades and traps outside the cave to do as much damage to the bull as quickly as possible.
> Fight defensively. Barricade yourself into the cave behind spikes, heaps of junk and anything else you can find. With any luck the birds will be forced to come at you in small manageable numbers, while the bull will have to break through everything just to get to you. Behind the defenses though you won’t have many opportunities to actively attack until the enemies are upon you.
> Fight offensively. Drag shelves, heaps of junk and create simple spikes out in the open area in front of the cave. You’ll be able to capitalize on your barricades and traps when they hinder the bull and after you deal with the bull you can retreat into the cave to finish off the birds. With a little luck you can keep the shelves to your back to keep the worse of the birds off you.
> Use the vine potion to lay more defenses
> Keep it for use in combat
