"it's something i try not to do that much anyways." She wipes away some drool off her mouth. "it eats up my energy reserves something fierce."
The Man is glad she can't see him. If she wasn't hungry before, she is sure is now.
"Before you ask, I'm not on the menu." You respond half-jokingly.
"awww. all of that hunting was for nothing then. not even one bite?" She flashes some beautifully perfected puppy dog eyes at yuo. "not even one little nibble?"
"Look at my skin." You point at the grey, blotchy mess you call 'skin'. "Do you WANT to eat that?"
"touche! no-" She pauses. Her face contorts into a grimace. "ough. sorry if this is gross but i need to do this." She opens her mouth and she reaches a hand right into her toothy maw.
You and the Man watch on in horror as she rips a tooth right out of her mouth. It's a weird hybrid of a human tooth and a shark's tooth. Faint traces of dark, DARK crimson (bordering on black) blood linger on the root of the tooth.
"that one didn't grow in right." "What do you MEAN by that???"
"hm? oh, don't worry, another's going to grow back tomorrow." She says it so casually, you almost don't notice how absurd the statement is. "no point brushing this one. you want it?"
"S-sure?"
She tosses the tooth over to you, as if it was a totally normal gift instead of a whole bloody tooth.
>ASHTON'S TOOTH obtained! (Could offer insight into her HARVESTER biology. Gnarly.)
"So, what now? Do we play again but I'm the hunter or?" You try to ignore how surreal all of this has been.
"nope. we're going to wrap it up with some first aid training." She wipes at her mouth again. "well, something like that. you need to be able to sense what's wrong with someone's body on an instinctual level."
"How can I do that, exactly?"
"i'll teach you the signs. it'll be theory, though, until you put it into practice."
You spend a few minutes trying to understand and learn how she's able to 'sense' various aliments and deficiencies in the human body. To be quite honest, you don't really understand what she's trying to explain. To her, it's something she understands on an instinctual level, simply by looking at a person for a few minutes.
It seems like this is one of those things that can't easily be taught to a human. Weird blood that shifts from bright red to nearly black, regenerating teeth, an instinctual awareness of how strong or weak a human is...
What else is wrong with her?
You do get a rough idea on what to look out for with your own senses. Bad smells, odd reactions to touch or other stimuli, things that you could reasonably pick up on.
While this workout hasn't really played out how you expected, you do feel like your time wasn't wasted. You did get something out of this.
>TRAINING COMPLETE. You now have +4 to all perception based rolls and an additional +1 to anatomy checks, bumping it up to +3.
>Healing items are also slightly more effective. It's hard to quantify how much better, though.
