Without thinking any longer, you drew your rondel dagger off your belt and raised it up above your head. Grabbing it with both hands, you struck it down straight into the smouldering scripture.
The moment the blade bit into the wood something happened. The arcs of arcane lighting that erupted from the scripture intensified for a second, several of them travelling up your arms, but thankfully stopping before going any further.
And then it felt like the scripture collapsed into itself with a mighty thunderclap. It was like thunder had struck just in front of you, the shockwave threw you on your back and the loud noise made your ears ring. It was enough for one of the ruined walls as it fell over and loose stone and masonry fell apart around you.
Laying on your back staring at the sky, your ears kept ringing and your whole body hurt. You tried to take a couple deep breaths and push yourself up, but found your body oddly unresponsive for a couple of moments before you rolled on your stomach. Your knights, now that you saw them, were all on the ground motionless. The illusion on them had been broken. And based on the loud thunderclap and with the ruins shaking apart, it wouldn't take long for everyone to notice and come help you.
It took all of your strength for you to push yourself back on your knees. Looking at your arms, you found them still there, but the mithril and truesilver alloy of Aurvan’kal was faintly smoking. It seemed to have absorbed or reflected most of the damage away. One by one you went through your fingers, they all moved. Barely, but they still moved. Numb from the shock and pain, you still used them to push yourself up to your feet and with both hands carefully lifted your helmet off, letting it fall to the ground.
Around you was a scene of a disaster. Parts of the ruined farmstead had been thrown all around, your knights on the ground behind you. And then where the scripture had been.
Oh great…
You didn't need to even try as you felt it and saw it. What arcane remained of the scripture was whirling around where scorched and splintered floorboards were. Hues of purple and blue light waved around the air and slowly spread further away from the centre point. You didn't see where your dagger was, probably it had been thrown somewhere by the thunderclap, but you saw that some of your Draconic had survived and hadn't been blown apart by what just had happened.
