“Vilgerson, watch yourself!” Yule was uncharacteristically distressed when the description of the deteriorating situation was relayed to him, “Those are Caelussian Paramarines, they have to be! I have no idea why they’re here, but I…I thought I saw them, there were rumors. That they’re true is very, very bad. Damn…” He bit back his words as though he expected the Countess to interject- but she was not around, and he quickly realized it. “Don’t be a fool. You can’t take them on by yourself. There’s something wrong here, that we shouldn’t rush into.”
In Kobberhus, meanwhile, two portions of Twaryians were pushed backwards, slaughtered and driven back, scattered, whilst an unusual pocket remained fiercely resilient. They were different from the rest, and the even the well-equipped Wester, his men outfitted with armored breastplates and self-loading rifles, was having difficulty with this enemy’s onslaught. Targets made themselves known only seldomly, and most of the time, shots were fired where the ripping crackle of submachinegun fire had sprayed into a squad’s cover only moments before, no enemy actually visible.
It was bad, Wester knew- his squads were growing smaller and smaller, while little damage seemed to be being inflicted on the enemy even as the area they occupied was practically drowned in mortar fire. Most of his men were wounded, many were low on ammunition even as couriers continued to bring up more from the trucks. A respite soon arrived- but not a welcome one. A smokescreen descended from on high with the whistle of mortars- the enemy had grown tired of being forced back, and it wouldn’t be long before they were up close and personal as they’d like…

”Hmm…disappointing. I hoped more of their tanks would come here.”
“Orders, Captain Strelziyienev?”
“The one in the open. Take them out, shoot to disable. If they run, let them go.”
“Yes sir. But…”
“There’s no pride or triumph in butchering a helpless enemy. Dismantle their vehicles. Destroy those who are a proper threat to you. Murder is not mercy the Judge would smile upon us for. Now, fire at will.”
