Jonathon decides not to hire the snail man- but he will apologize for the misunderstanding. The snail man makes a wiping motion with his hand and seems to brighten up, as if to clear away the bad air between them.
“Jonathon... why didn't you hire him?”
”Because we can't communicate with him anyway. Too dangerous to take along. Besides, the man is a cutthroat. Once we find any treasure in the dungeon, he may just overpower you and I and take whatever we found and leave us for dead.”
“The same could be said of anyone else we bring along!”
”Yeah, but with this money we can equip ourselves better. I like our chances.”
Jonathon and Elly take the last of the coin they had left and used to it purchase some much needed equipment. The local smith isn't exactly an armorer or weapon-master by trade, but can still sell Jonathon a sword and a coat-of-plates; a decent enough piece of armor. For Elly, she buys a new pack and visits the local herbalist to buy a collection of rarer herbs, including some smelling salts. Along with this, the pair bring a decent amount of food, torches, and sacks to carry their ill-gotten gains.
Then, in the morning, they begin their climb up the mountain.
