Confusion at his words furrows your brow. Rebirth? A galaxy reborn? How does The Singularity plan to do something so incredibly farcical? “Sorry, this is going to sound really stupid; there’s still a lot I struggle to wrap my head around. How exactly will we be reborn? Like, what’s the process?”
“Don’t worry about it, kid. These things are hard to grasp, and we can never really fully understand, we can’t feel the Force. So, the Force is everywhere, and in everything, it pulls the strings of reality to its design. The Force isn’t just an invisible force like gravity, it has its own will. It is a living thing. Even the Jedi agree with us on this point.” Luke gives you a soft smile, gauging your face to see if you are following along. He continues with his impassioned words, getting more energetic with every syllable. “And you see, Dark Star can capture the energy from living things. Oh, all beings have some power in the Force; it is how life is created. So, many of us give ourselves willingly, knowing they will use our lifeforce in better ways than we can for the cause. And it doesn’t even matter, when it is all done, they will bring us back. They take our yearning souls and store the power in these purple crystals, and when they get enough power, they will unleash it at one concentrated point, obliterating the rules of reality. Creating a singularity. Overloading the will of the Force, sending it recoiling, and replacing it with our own design. We will reorder the tapestry of reality, and make a better galaxy where such suffering that dominates all the worlds of the Republic is gone, where inequality and exploitation of the masses will be dead. And the faithful’s bodies, and those of their loved ones, will be recreated by the awesome explosion of power, and our souls will be placed back into them. Does that make it any clearer?”
They plan to usurp the will of the Force? That is utter madness. Would Dark Star even attempt this impossible feat or just feed off the stored power of the souls, engorging themselves and growing in potency? You catch a frown on Luke’s face as he reads your confused and disbelieving scowl. Quickly flushing the expression away, you reply, “That is very helpful. It does put the pieces together as well as anything could. But I think I will need to meditate on it, to help internalise your words and message. And don’t worry, as soon as you need me, call me. I’ll be there, ready.”
“Don’t worry, kid, I plan to; someone your size is going to be very helpful. Now go away, meet new people, make new friends. This isn’t a place just for religion and strategy, but for socialising and helping one another.” The senior Luke gives you a gentle shove, sending you away from the group.
