>SELECTED: Many of the knights escort have been sequestered to their own table, exchanging stories from the road. The majority of them wear the white robes of the Knights Comitas, though not all seem sworn to silence like Brother Rousseau. But there are a few that are like yourself, like-minded men of noble blood that made a similar pledge to continue their pilgrimage from the First Vigil and protect others along the way. You’d like to meet them. [Haughty]
The knightly gentlemen present are predominantly brothers of the Comitas, the vast majority of those honour their oaths of silence and eat their meals in good-natured but dull companionship. There are exceptions of course, typically among the higher ranked of their number. One such man you recognise is Brother Jesaul, he was one of the senior men at the Knights Comitas Watchtower along the vague border between Romaine and Ardenne. At first the man doesn’t recognise you as the same young pup he would send diving into the chilly waters of late autumn with dozens of other Romani boys as part of your gruelling training for your duties come winter, upon induction you had all been stripped of your heraldry and personal belongings so the bold Ursen and chain heraldry meant nothing to him. Not every youth survives their service in the border forts, but well you remember how many of those deaths would have been avoided if they had but remembered the warning lessons of the old man.
The man seated to your left is introduced as Sir Mattis van Brooksvale, a quiet fellow that lets others carry the conversation. There is little about his armour or manner that shouts renowned knight, in fact he’s equipped little better than one of Father’s common man-at-arms. He speaks no word of his own achievements, and seems deeply embarrassed when Brother Jesaul claims to have seen him slay five Langlish pirates by himself, at once mind you, when they were waylaid during their own voyage through the Cathagi Strait a mere two weeks ahead of you. With a start you realise that this is the same unnamed and plainly adorned knight that stood the First Vigil with you, his path from Aubrey must have overtaken yours during your expedition into the northern reaches of Fallavon searching for your brother.
