I think that maybe we can keep it relevant if the power of the gravity stone's effect could be regulated - so we could make multiple lighter gravity enhanced strikes instead of a single big one.
Alternatively, we could scrap both the Rapier and Flamebringer to make a custom cut and thrust sword. They both were made out of mana conductive alloys, so maybe we'd get weapon with higher concentration of Starmetal.
