I was also annoyed by this character, because her animation in the old games messed up one of Raphael's grab moves, the sort of horizontal spine stab twist one(?), and it was always infuriating if you got beaten by a tiny girl using similar moves to Raphael lol (I think Amy was a bit quicker, not sure if it is actually true but she felt like a faster character). Watching some of the youtube tournaments I think Amy still ranks higher than Raphael and gets more use. Maybe Raphael is just terrible.
I switched to Nightmare and Siegfried for their ring out moves, the massive horizontal sword swipes. I only really began to understand their stances watching youtube (mostly after I had stopped playing the games lol). I enjoy only weapon fighters, Soul Calibur, Last Blade on psx and Samurai Shodown, I liked Ukyo there (just the character and his apple slice moves) but know even less about that game lol. I tried Tekken and could not understand it; I have never played any Street Fighter at all. I did play several versions of Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, admired their cool characters and music but again it just seemed too hard to understand.
