"...You've been good to us so far, so I'll trust that you’ve been treating her right." You say, seeing no lie in his eyes.
Dozle might be willing to wreak terrible violence in the name of his family, but outside of his duties as a soldier he doesn’t seem to be the violent type - He grows impassioned easily, but other than mild abuse of furniture and martial arts sparring you never seen or heard any evidence of him striking anyone or anything. He’s just… loud. Boisterous and big.
“You have my word.” Dozle promises solemnly, and of all the Zabis he’s perhaps the only one you might come close to trusting with such a simple assurance, “I have never found it easy to speak with them. Women, I mean.”
“Really? A big guy like you?” You feign surprise, though between Blanche’s comments and what you’ve seen of him it’s not all that surprising; he’s certainly bold and spontaneous, but he seems like the sort of man to shout a declaration and have no idea how to follow it up with anything like a normal conversation.
“Mm.” He grunts in acknowledgement, “It is easy to speak with her. I do not understand it, but it is so.”
Damn, he really has it bad; it would be pretty wholesome if it wasn’t in reference to your mother. You’d of course like her to be happy, but it still feels strange for her to trying for a Zabi, even if it probably is just to manipulate him. She’s hardly alone though, at least assuming things with Garma haven’t blown up in Artesia’s face over the last week.
“She’s always been a good listener. What are your intentions with her?”
“Intentions?” Dozle questions, considering that for a long moment, “...I do not know. I wish to see her smile more. We have not been speaking for very long. A month or so, whenever I return to the palace. When I first set my mind on reconciling our families I did not imagine… this.”
“Life can take strange turns.” You agree, crossing your arms and shifting your gaze back to the rows of models, the conversation slowly growing less strange. Very slowly.
