"That was not the end... One day, the duck princess was rescued by the falcon from the crow kings. The ducks, wanting a strong tie to the falcon, all wished for them to mate. And worse, a new threat came to the falcon, an ethereal figure that should not even exist... A Pegasus, known for cutting the wings of all avian during his flight. Not by happenstance, but by choice. He flied alone, though several other unidentifiable birds had tried to follow him, only to die of exhaustion due to his otherworldly stamina... The Falcon tried to welcome said birds related to the pegasus... But he was never the same after discovering what laid inside the egg of a clapper rail..."
Schierke got lost on so many bird descriptions, but tried to follow the story nonetheless.
"The Pegasus managed to slay the clapper rail and the dragons with his magic, proving to defy nature as he galloped through the sky, The kite wished to stay by the Falcon's side, scared of what the future might bring. needs of flying with the Falcon did not matter, so the young, sullen kite went off to the sea... Wondering if she could ever hope to avenge the dragons."
"And what happened next?"
"Well, she met a young white owl, surrounded by seagulls!" Sonia stared straight into Schierke, who instantly understood the analogy. "Even though she was surrounded by other birds, the kite thought that the owl looked lonely. 'We are somewhat alike, perhaps we could be friends...' she thought to herself, before Guts came to interrupt their meeting.
"Falcons make for terrible predators, as all birds are. Clip off their feathers, and they are as intimidating as your average rooster. It's no wonder why a simple bite from a wolf can twist it's neck."
"Guts!" Schierke was startled at his sudden appearance.
"Don't trash talk Violet, you meanie!"
"Sorry Schierke, but I don't think you'll be making any new friends here." Sonia takes a step backwards as Guts expels her from his proximity.
"Wait, please!" Sonia attempted to speak further with the wolf, but a crowd of child slaves swarmed the area as they were held by slave traders.
"मम साहाय्यं कुरुत ! मम साहाय्यं कुरुत !"
Though Guts could not understand them, their screams made it obvious to what they meant.
"You pirates?" Guts addresses the word to the one holding the child's hair.
"Slave traders! Know the difference."
"We bought them legally with authorization from the government. Since kushan are contraband, their parents got hanged. Since they didn't want to kill them off, that's where we come in."
"We'll get a good price from them on the colonies down south!"
"How about you treat them more fairly? This is not the kind of life children deserve to have. Growing up in such a miserable state, it will only give them a one-way entry into darkness..." Guts speaks from experience.
