The problem with modular construction is it loses rigidity compared to mono-chassis construction, combined with the point that a carrier is mostly empty (because it by definition carries things) and so turning in space with a bulky and floppy craft puts so much stress on the frame. It'll be interesting to see what gets thrown at us in the future like privateers, pirate fleets, Greys or the Feds and how our growing armada manage it.
