+Heresy…+ TalOS allowed a moment for that word to run through his Machine Spirits as they referenced the Emperor. What it meant in relation to the man himself notwithstanding TalOS felt a moment of interest, +It would be heresy for the Emperor to be imperfect?+
The Astartes seemed to shutter to the words given as he answered, +The Emperor is the ruler of mankind, the creator of the Primarchs and us. If he is imperfect… then we will fail.+
TalOS felt his eyes furrow as he processed those words, +That we will fail? That his Crusade will not unite humanity?+
The Astartes could not really say anything more. TalOS studied his heart rate and body as it fluctuated between fear and calm. It was something of a hard response that should not have been considered within his mind. So why was his reaction so visceral?
Programming. That was the simple answer.
It will be difficult to bring his sons closer to the Mechanicum when they were built to think that the Emperor would do no wrong. It was a simple mechanism that allowed their creator to have a greater control over their minds and stamp out heresy within their persons. That's why the word ‘Heresy’ was the best to describe it to the Astartes, for Heresy was accusing something that they did not understand the fundamental framework of reality. To try and replace it with their own.
So TalOS decided to take it easy for the moment, +The Emperor is not a perfect being, Sargent Kranz, for he is not a god.+
And like that TalOS watched as his son’s mind seemed to click upon hearing those words, +He… is only a man.+
TalOS gave a small nod to those words, +You name, Astartes, if records indicate correctly came from a woman who worked on your creation. As a man he employed the brightest minds of Terra to fashion Legions of Transhuman Warriors that would give him the Galaxy. If he was perfect, he would not even need us.+
The Astartes looked a little worried still but gave a nod, +I believe I understand Father.+
TalOS gave a small nod to those words, +Good. When you return to the Legion inform them of my decision. For now though, we should enjoy ourselves. The B3-3R will begin to degrade so we should finish it.+
And with those words TalOS poured some more of his drink into both his and his son’s mug.
