>>6303855You think it may be only three hours past noon but you and your teacher have made a great distance from the village and you are already nearly at the very border of the mountains and....you think you can see the visiting Totemist from here! A bit more hiking down the slopes and you finally come face to face with this new guest and she seems to be in some kind of very fine, lavender silk dress. There's some delicate looking purple silk incorporated in her outfit and a strange golden hoop on her front, and you notice she looks quite different from anyone you've seen on the mountain, not to mention the very open aired style she has.
However, she seems more uncomfortable that you'd expect even for someone wearing something so breezy and light down in the valley. She darts her gaze around as you approach and seems very tense until you're both in front of her and she takes a deep breath and lets it out in a long sigh.
She stands up straight, and looks in your teacher's eyes as she makes a full circle with her hand as a very big wave. Oranya returns it with a smile and goes it for a hug. The visiting Totemist seems maybe eight or so years her junior, but your teacher and her hug tightly and split off with some excited chatter in a different language than any one you recognize.
Once they're apparently done with whatever conversation went underway, Oranya shared a slightly concerned look and calls you up to join closer.
You introduce yourself with a nod and a bow, as traditional greetings go it's a bit stiff, but the new Totemist lady returns it and you feel like she made her greeting more naturally than you had.
"Yaosao. And this is him? The one was Gifted a --------? Xandin Arre no less?" Asks the visitor in a peculiarly friendly but also urgent accent. You can sort of tell it's heavily influenced by the language she must normally speak.
Oranya let's out a huff and nods. "Aye, Heyra, indeed. Yvorro herself let him into a Vault as a Gift for some joke she felt was made and he ended up pulling out a damn Trespasser. Apparently the Others have one giant connected super space in their holes and he wound up grabbing something from further in than expected."
The woman, Heyra you guess, notices the little pouch you carry Xandin's gem with around your neck and she frowns deeply at it any chants something under her breath. A little wisp of golden vapor escapes her lips and fizzles out as it approaches, which apparently brings some comfort.
"No curses coming out of it, at least." She says, before stiffening up again and glaring at the mountains behind you. "Oranya, what is wrong with your mountains? Its like the Lines are all jagged and squirming around."
"What do you mean?" Your teacher asks and quirks and eyebrow. "I haven't found anything wrong with the leylines."
