K-3331, P-7752, and V-0899 knew they couldn’t stay hidden in the Leman Russ tank forever. The artillery bombardment outside was relentless, but they needed to make their move if they wanted to reach the communication center. With their injuries bandaged, they steeled themselves for the run across no man's land.
<span class="mu-i">"Corp" </span> P-7753 stated, looking through a tear in the armour of the tank <span class="mu-i"> "I think I see the sewer entrance."</span>
K-3331 looked at his data slate and nodded. About fifty yards away, a sewer entrance half covered by a sewer grate.
Some brown liquid slowly pooled in front of its rusting structure.
Through the tear, K-3331 could see the occasional explosion sending plumes of dirt upwards. He looked back to his soldiers: P-7752's leg was completely shattered from the shell and the xenos. He couldn't help but think that he was to blame for his inevitable death. V-0899 seemed dazed and slightly shellshocked and took a moment too long to respond to basic questions. And K-3331...well, that last shell had sent shrapnel straight through the leg. It was bandaged and K-3331 could feel the stimms working their way through his system but it was a temporary fix at best.
They needed to complete the mission and fast before they all fell apart at the seams.
The three soldiers positioned themselves at the hatch, ready to dash into the chaos. K-3331 glanced at his comrades, nodding once to signal his resolve.
<span class="mu-i">“Go!”</span> he shouted, and they burst from the tank’s relative safety into the hellscape outside.
