>M-M-M-M-M-MAXIMUM SPIDER!
“I don’t think running away would do you much good at this point. Would you mind giving me a hand here?” you asked, pulling out your knife and twirling it in your hand.
He eyed the weapon warily for a moment, before nodding with just as much hesitation. You took that as at least a half decent confirmation that he wouldn’t run off while you weren’t looking. If he did, you could always drag him back and abandon him to his fate.
You waited for a gap between his shots, and when your spider-sense stopped tingling for just a second, you made your move.
You rolled out of cover and recovered in the blink of an eye, sprinting forward with renewed vigor as your eyes tracked the barrel of the Wheel’s heavy cannons. The moment you felt your spider sense tingle, you dove forward rolling under the first shot and using your webs to swing past the next two.
Skateboard guy was circling around and firing a volley of micro-rockets from a launcher on his wrist. The Wheel rocked slightly as they impacted its hull, but they didn’t appear to do much damage.
This earned him the attention of the pilot, who was entirely unaware of your presence on the side of his Wheel. That is, until you plunged your knife through one of its thick glass panels. His eyes went wide as he whirled to face you. His face was almost immediately covered as you yanked the dagger back out, and began filling the cracks with webbing and explosive barbs. Your spider-sense was blaring in the forefront of your mind, warning you about the dual cannons rotating to fire on you. But it was too late.
With a loud crack, the glass panel exploded inward, leaving the driver momentarily disoriented. Not for long, but long enough for you to slip inside before his weapons could fire. He screamed in impotent rage, but you quickly silenced him with a left hook across the side of his face. Jackson’s body went limp, and the Big Wheel stopped firing almost immediately.
A wave of relief washed over you, but it was almost immediately followed by a fresh spark of curiosity. Looking at it now, this thing was a real marvel of modern technology. It would’ve taken a genius to build something like this, and you didn’t think Jackson here fit the bill. The damage to the controls and exterior was minimal, and you thought you could replace the glass paneling easily enough.
“Everything okay in there?” skateboard guy yelled.
