Doesn’t feel like anything particularly strong, but… certainly “off” in a way. There’s a hint of Magic in the air… and the hint tastes sour. The first sign of life you get is a small… kinda grub-like animal with a shell made of ice around its body. When noticing you all, it quickly scurries away in fear.
Finally you reach a frozen atrium, with what looks like a massive spike of an icicle rammed into it from the top-left corner. That’s… not usually how ice works, so, interesting. Wandering the atrium though, there are massive wolf-like animals… well, half-wolf, half-whale. Fur white, dense, and yet sleek like an otter’s. Fins jetting out from the sides of webbed feet. Long tails ending in flukes. And a tall dorsal fin standing up high, adding to their already impressive size. On their own, they’d be an interesting find.
But it’s the soured Magical feeling you’re getting from them that puts you on alert. Dripping from their mouths are drops of viscous black liquids, giving off a sulfurous scent, a miasma seeming to flow from it. You and Yamcha look at one another. “…Aquma?” you question.
“Probably. Which means even the mist from it is dangerous.” he replies with a nod.
The animals notice the lot of you and start to circle around, fangs bared and showing off sets of blackened teeth that are definitely covered with the stuff. Bon and Don take positions on either side of the two of you, Cheelai hiding back behind them. Okay, if it IS what you think it is, you might be able to handle this relatively easily. Just gotta be very careful…
Squeaks and clicks and odd, slightly sing-songy howls come from their mouths, you can hear more responding to the sounds. One continues circling around and one attempts to run at you all. Okay, don’t need to kill them. Just get rid of the actually dangerous part. Waiting until it has its mouth open, you throw Light-infused weak Ki blast right down its maw. The creature stops, choking and hacking as writhes in pain. Eventually it throws up a black mass in addition to the viscous fluid, then lays there panting.
The other animal, Yamcha easily dodged, grabbed by the tail, and pinned down. The maws of the animal wildly chomp at the air, some of the Aquma splattering out. The boys and Cheelai manage to avoid it, and you toss another small, Light-infused Ki blast down its throat. Just like the first one, it hacks up another black mass, before calming down, panting. Yamcha pets the animal gently once it stops struggling and is free from the influence. “There there big guy, it’s all right.”
