Just a work in progress concept I made for a potential game setting. I was inspired by extraction / looter shooters like Arena Breakout and Escape From Tarkov, and also videogames like Manhunt and Condemned Criminal Origins as well as that second film The Purge: Anarchy. I am still debating whether to make it post apocalyptic or maybe just near-collapse etc, this might determine the look of the game and the firearms
The idea is a sort of urban SERE (survival evasion resistance escape) scenario, you are being hunted by some mercenaries - it is a bit like that old John Woo / Jean Claude van Damme action film Hard Target (1993) but also heavily inspired by John Carpenter Escape From New York (1981).
Something that is holding me back: I really like the look of the biker gangs (see my gif here
>>5935911 ) except I know literally nothing about motorbikes lol except for the fact that they look cool and also I liked the bit in Mission Impossible 2 where Tom Cruise leaps out of one and shoots a Beretta. So I am not too sure where to go with the motorbikes etc. except there will probably be lots of menacing biker gang hunters with possible bdsm outfits and black helmets wielding submachine guns and DOING WHEELIES THERE WILL BE WHEELIES
Another difficulty is I want PHOTOREALISTIC top down / aerial view / birdseye overhead drone type shots of urban retail type areas, you know the abandoned shopping mall supermarket dept store type locations (think the Escape From Tarkov amazing Interchange level, or even that bizarre supermarket suicide cultist horror level from the FEAR 3 videogame) yet these top down images are really really hard to find. I have scoured googl, just give it a try, it is really hard to source a good photorealistic top down view of a supermarket for an rpg battlemap. I also have looked at some modern art depictions, I believe the contemporary photographers Brian Ulrich and Andreas Gursky deliver some abstract or hyperreal retail dystopia type imagery
The idea of the game is probably to just loot supermarkets / retail whilst evading the hunters (and probably then exfiltrate...?) I am also debating whether to make the game more post-apocalyptic / primitive ie low magazine type vagrant /Condemned Criminal origin style weaponry, baseball bats, shotguns, broken revolvers etc or adopt the more Arena Breakout / Tarkov style militaristic urban warfare (ballistic visors assault rifle setup etc).
But just something I was working on, maybe it can inspire other anons
