The Mitu Collective have been made to suffer at the hands of humanity.
The enemy fleet that was nearest to Lucius had began their retreat after several weeks of combat against the Mechanicum forces that had matched them. For a time the two forces were matched in fire power with a great many dying upon both sides. Numerous attempts to flank and outmaneuver only to be met by the overwhelming power of the other force.
After all, while the Mitu were able to see the future, the Mechanicum had begun to predict it. Both sides are trying to realize the fate of the other. That by determining their fate they could reveal the other’s tactics. But neither side truly grasped the art of future telling, thus neither was able to gain a real advantage.
In such a state of deadlock was when the remnants of the loyalists began to hear of the invasion. The cries of a dozen worlds all screaming that they were attacked. That the forward force needed to retreat unless the core worlds were to be threatened by the encroaching tide of darkness.
In such a moment they had a choice. One where they would damn so many worlds to conquest but another where they would lose what they were ultimately fighting for.
The Mitu choosed to Fall Back.
While not nearly as efficient as the Blackstone Fortress’s assualt upon the worlds it was by far faster. One after another planets were ransacked, burned, or colonized. The numbers of lives lost quickly grew into the Billions as cities were bombarded and planets deemed useless were cracked.
Reports would reach the ears of the Imperium about the Mechanicum’s advance upon the region. Those who heard of such destruction could barely comprehend just how many planets were cracked with Exterminatus grade munitions. So many felt their hearts dropped as more munitions were expended upon their campaign against the Mitu than the entire rest of the Crusade.
Of the Primarchs founded though only Leman Russ spoke of this mass destruction, “You think my Brother in the Mechanicum to be civilized? He is a Dragon! Whatever doesn’t strike his ire will be burnt.”
