But not all Qilin had perished in the destruction of the cradle. Few survived. Namely, there was a pure hearted creature named Muna, who by the interventions of the Machine God, had lived elsewhere in the world among mortals, now risen to try dethroning the Emperor for good.
And then there was the Cattle Qilin, Ren, who lied enslaved in the Trinity's capital at the hands of the unforgiving Lord Thandir, ruler of souls. Using the aborted children of the Cattle, Lord Thandir perfected his demented plans to create an unstoppable and divine army that could effortlessly annihilate all opposition to the Trinity.
And thus, the Mass Produced Demigods were born.
By extracting the innately celestial essence of unborn Qilin and combining it with advanced frames engineered well beyond mortal means, Lord Thandir found a way to create a Demigod lacking any will of its own. Each of these manufactured Demigods would be worth well over a billion men, and their strength was beyond that of any army. With a force of these, overwhelming the indigenous deities of Hainei that refused to bow to the Emperor was within easier reach.
But to his confounding, Thandir encountered multiple drawbacks to the Mass Produced Demigods. The shells strong enough to contain Demigodly essence was extremely expensive to the Trinity and difficult to engineer, taking many years to merely get one half underway. As well, the Mass Produced Demigods were non-sapient, and could not think for themselves. The intelligence of the creatures had to be removed to ensure the celestial essence did not produce sentiments even resembling disloyalty or a will to do anything for itself, out of great fear of betrayal or revolt. And finally, the Demigod soldiers were incapable of drawing out their true Demigodly power because of their counterfeited nature without specialized weapons attuned to themselves, also difficult to engineer.
In order to better organize the Mass Produced Demigods as a standing force, Thandir had no choice but to create four with their own wills, indoctrinated to himself, to lead them. These kingly four he dubbed the Cadres and gave their own names.
