>Try approaching the Insect Digimon. You can't go fighting Ultimates willy-nilly, so you'll try to avoid the super-Kuwagamon, but there are plenty of Rookie species to scan. Doc's partners are machine insects, he might like this data a lot, so you have confidence that it'll be settled once you obtain it.
You and Astamon figure out your next destination. There are enough insect Digimon to finish up the rest of your collection and make good on your debt to Doc. Once that’s done, you’ll have paid off both contributors to this mission, and you’ll be able to focus on your primary objective without worrying about keeping promises.
“Let’s go that way. They have a lot of stragglers and scavengers, I’m sure we can find Digimon to scan.”
”I think so too. Slow down, I need to conserve my power.”
You hold your Digivice up. But now, you’ve become able to calibrate how much strength you send to your partner. You compress your link, cutting off the flow of energy and weakening him intentionally. Astamon’s body shrinks a little as it becomes overwhelmed with light, then he turns bulky and dense, losing both of his weapons in the process. Standing before you is Porcupamon, his spikes growing anew right before your eyes.
”That’s better. We won’t be fighting the big guy if we can help it, so there ain’t no point burning so much power.”
You nod in agreement. You and Porcupamon take off towards the site of the skirmish. Once your altitude decreases, you lose sight of the massive bug. You just know it’s somewhere ahead of you, getting closer to the edge of the district with its army of insects.
