After the Slaughter of 302 the Imperium brought its attention to those of Araneus. As TalOS wished it, Rogal Dorn made his attempts to appeal to the people of this wealthy region of technological progress. It was here that many rumors were confirmed, the Warp Gates that the humans used to quickly travel about the Empire as well as the numerous pieces of automation that allowed their worlds so much technology.
Both of these would have been great boons that would give the Imperium a step up upon the galactic stage. Rogal Dorn and TalOS DAV1S both knew this and tried to make the people of the Technocracy understand that it was in all of their interests if they simply surrendered.
They were fools though, the Technocracy was. Insults flew that they had already seen the monstrous face of the Imperium and that they would not be cowed into submission by the other side of the same coin. Such rhetoric TalOS and Rogal agreed was not levied at them, but were vain attempts to rally the people of their empire to protect them. It also did not excuse them for insulting a Fabricator General of Mars who did his best to make them understand the situation.
Thus the Imperium declared War.
The battles were won in short order and with minimal casualties. The advance nature of the humans worked against them because the Priests from both Mars and Lucius could play with their systems with ease. Entire ships were disabled not through the use of guns but the prayers and canticles that TalOS recited in the name of the Machine God.
Rogal Dorn was the one who fought at the front. Such a thing was reasonable for the Imperium needed the people to see what Dorn was. The Truth that he was a righteous man who fought good fights and honestly did care about mankind underneath him. In the void though such deeds were rarely recorded, so it was TalOS’s domain to dominate to his will.
Within a month Araneus fell. What ultimately caused their collapse was the inability of the government to fight off the encroaching rights of angry protestors who saw the Imperium and the Imperial Fists for what they were. The Technocracy tried to fight it, to make their people see their reason, but they always found that their broadcasts would show the wrong images or entire segments be aired which were created by the mind of a Primarch.
It was a story where a people attacked by the Imperium found themselves loving their conquerors by the end. Such a thing was guaranteed when the Imperial Fists improved their cities beyond what their Technocracy gave. And thanks to these methods of subverting the population, the Mechanicum was able to receive a great amount of their technology intact.
Even the Warp Gates, which the previous administration planned to have exploded thanks to their strategic significance, were stopped because of these actions.
