>This course has only recently occurred to you, thanks to your growth. This is a Digimon, not an unthinking servitor. Maybe, just maybe, you could try talking to it once inside. Of course, you'll have to be in a good position first, where you can prepare for hostilities. This too will lose you the chance to sneak attack.
You almost activate f1oat again. At the last second, you decide that there's no point in doing that diagonal glide-dive daisy chain combo that Wind had to pull off, with all of you clinging on to him. There's substantially less urgency here, and this area isn't locked down as hard. Instead, you take the stairs down to the ground floor and simply pry a hole in the EM fence with your wave-coated hands.
"Let's go talk to it."
<span class="mu-s">"We're not taking it down?"</span>
"Not yet. I've got my c1oak on, it won't be able to recognize me immediately, so let's see if we can get any info out of it."
<span class="mu-s">"City's crony is bound to have something, I guess... Fine. But I don't like this. I'll start swinging on my own if it gets dicey, capisce?"</span>
You nod as you step through the hole, watching it seal shut behind you. You begin making your way through the district, careful not to let the rubberneckers catch sight of your silhouette. Once you're far enough in, the buildings will overlap enough to hide you from their observation. Most of the block is still intact, with the damage being centered around the lab. You scan the area with your goggles for Digimon traces, but don't find anything of use. You'll probably only find an actual trail once you reach Doc's abandoned workshop.
The best spot is above it. You clamber onto a blown-out husk of a partition, watching the metal golem shamble beneath you. It rests its massive claws on the rubble with each step, while it shoots out a blue lattice and scans through the ruins. The dome atop its head is tinted, hiding the rider from sight.
Phascomon has hololized by now, and is sneaking alongside you. While you're thinking about how to get its attention, he steps forward, as though about to speak.
"Hey, hang on!"
<span class="mu-s">"What?"</span>
"You need to be ready to attack. Can't let him know you're there. It has to be me."
<span class="mu-s">"But isn't it more suspicious for a human to be in here than a Digimon?"</span>
"It is, but I don't think we have a choice. Not like I can fight it if you do the talking, right?"
<span class="mu-s">"Yeah, I pick up what you're puttin' down. Go ahead."</span>
He slinks into the shadows, vanishing from your sight. You trust him to find a good angle. Your own position is up above. Before the Mekanorimon can move on, you call out to it tentatively.
